I have always been inspired by the green of Seattle. The moss is so romantic and artistic. It lends for an aged beauty that makes everything have an air of remembrance, solitude, and longing. When I first moved to Seattle, I was so inspired by the lush landscape and secret waters. So when Elle came to me to shoot her wedding, I was nothing but ecstatic to get to be inspired by the Seattle in the setting of my job. Then Elle told me it would be at The Canal at the Ballard Locks and I was nothing short of pumped.

For those of you none Seattle people, the Ballard Locks is like a small Panama Canal. It is used to allow boats access from Lake Union and the ocean, which sits about 25 feet lower. It is surrounded by a gorgeous botanic garden that can be described as heaven on s sunny day. The Canal is an event center and restaurant that sits alongside the canal. Boats pass by all day as they pass through the Ballard Locks into Lake Union and vis versa. So to sum it up, a dream come true to a photographer.

Elle and Josh were giddy right from the start. Elle was spirited, relaxed and simply enjoyed the day. Josh was beaming for his bride and wanted everything to be perfect for her. And not everything went according to plan. In transit from the home where they got ready to the botanic gardens for pictures, one of the bridesmaids got in a car accident and was sent to the hospital with a sprained wrist. And in true Seattle fashion it started to rain (despite their plans for an outside ceremony). Elle and Josh took these wrinkles with grace and ease, just rolling with the punches. Once the ceremony began, all ran smoothly. Their choreographed first dance went by with out a hitch and Usher would have been proud of the dance moves dropped on the dance floor.

So here is their day captured in light. Hope you enjoy it.

They were married on 7/11  . . . . so we had to do the obvious.
