I can hardly believe it has been over a month since I have blogged. It has been rather crazy in my neck of the woods. I have been busy doing lots of graphic design and a few photography projects here and there that have kept me more than busy. So in light of the upcoming wedding season, I thought I would share a particularly awesome wedding from this past summer that has been sitting in my arsenal just waiting for such a time.

Brandon and Liza got married in the heart of the mountains. I think it was something like a 3 or 4 hour drive south of Colorado Springs for me. I had never been in this particular area of the Colorado mountain side and it was spectacular. We met up at an abandoned ski lodge that had become over run with white daisy fields (sigh. . so gorgeous). Their wedding was in the most quaint little mountain chapel. Their decorations were all inspired by the beautiful nature around them with wild flowers and green grass as accents. The day was absolutely dreamy, the epitome of a Colorado summer day. Even looking at the pictures brought back memories of camping by cold creeks and laying in green grass fields with the warm sun slowly setting.

I think maybe the coolest part for me was the fact that Liza is Nepalese. The summer after my sophomore year in college I spent a month in the Tibetan area of China. Liza and her family reminded me so much of the friends I made while living there. Seeing the Nepalese traditions mixed with a westernized wedding was so intriguing and inspiring. I loved the hand painted henna on Liza’s hands and the gorgeous Nepalese dresses that her mother and cousins wore. I think the Nepalese people have extraordinary features and it was so much fun to be able to shoot with them all day.

I didn’t get to know Brandon and Liza too well. It was a half day wedding and I met them that morning. However, I do know that they are adventurous. So here’s to your new adventure together. I wish you all the happiness that marriage can bring.
