As it slowly drizzles outside in beautiful but cloudy Seattle, WA, I thought I would reminisce a time when sun was abundant. Our honeymoon. After our nuptials, my hubby and I went down to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico where it was hot, humid and sunny. We stayed at Secrets Capri Resort and Spa. We had debated over what we should do for our honeymoon. We had thrown out going to Europe and had thought that maybe we should do something a little more relaxing where we could just lounge. It was definitely relaxing. The resort was gorgeous and the staff was wonderful. We spent a lot of our days either by the beach or pool or lounging in the air conditioning of our room. At night, we enjoyed eating amazing seafood at some of the restaurants on the resort and watched movies by the pool once it was dark. But after a about four of days of that, we were kinda wishing we went to a locale that was more adventurous and less touristy.

Our first day at the resort, we spent a day in the spa which, is fair to say, might have been our favorite part. They have an hour long hydro therapy treatment that you do before your spa treatment. It is a mix of dry sauna, wet sauna, hot and cold water and jets. You basically go from station to station enjoying the relaxing benefits of water. The pools were in an out door mayan hut so you were surrounded by the jungle. It was a very unique and luxurious experience.

We also took a day and went to Tulum, a local Mayan ruins hot spot. Again, it was hot. So lots of sweat was involved in walking around ancient ruins. But it was very cool to see the ancient culture of that area and see Mexico the way it used to be. That same day we went on a underground water cave dive. There is basically a ladder in a hole in the ground and you climb down into the darkness. They turn on the lights and before you is a huge lake/canal of water. We just climbed in a snorkled through the cave. As you swim, bats are flying around your head and you can see them hanging upside down from the cave like ceiling. There were also freshwater shrimp and small blind fish. I wish I had an underwater set up for my camera so I could have taken pictures of it. It was AMAZING!

We have some wonderful memories from our first trip together. So here are some pictures of our Mexico experience.

there were little geckos on the ceiling in this hallway.
